“Writers Revealed” Exhibition Opens at Shanghai Museum East

On March 17, the exhibition “Writers Revealed: Treasures from British Collections and the National Portrait Gallery London” officially opened at the Shanghai Museum East. This exhibition marks the first time the collection of the National Portrait Gallery, London, has been showcased in the Chinese mainland.  

Co-organized by the Shanghai Museum and the National Portrait Gallery, London, with curatorial participation from the British Library, the exhibition brings together 135 precious artifacts, including portraits, manuscripts, first editions, and letters of 82 British literary masters, guiding visitors on a literary journey spanning five centuries. By pairing portraits with handwritten manuscripts, the exhibition presents the multifaceted dimensions of these literary giants and delves into their lives, creative processes, and historical contexts.
