On May 26, the theoretical symposium "Studying and Implementing President Xi’s Key Discourses to Promote High-Quality Development in Philosophy and Social Sciences" was held at the Shanghai Exhibition Center. The conference unveiled the second batch of publications from Shanghai's "Five Major Libraries" of philosophy and social sciences, followed by keynote addresses from six experts and scholars.
The meeting called on the city's social sciences community to implement President Xi’s important instructions on promoting high-quality development in philosophy and social sciences, pursue theoretical innovation through the "Two Combinations" as a fundamental approach, and deepen the systematic and theoretical study of the Party's innovative ideas. It urged researchers to ground their work in Shanghai's development realities, align with national priorities, and better support Chinese-style modernization. The meeting also emphasized the need to drive systemic change, leverage technology to strengthen research capacity, and inject new momentum into building China's independent knowledge system. Finally, it stressed the importance of fostering a healthy academic environment and encouraging social science researchers to take on the mission of advancing discourse and serving the nation.
