The Allocation Dimension of New-Quality Productive Forces

From:Social Sciences Weekly2024-6-17 11:40

Li Guihua and Li Xudong, in their article in “On Economic Problems” 6th issue 2024, emphasize that the theoretical compatibility and practical alignment of labor-based distribution with the goal of common prosperity should be considered through three lenses: descriptive, normative, and systemic. The fading boundaries between the current dual distribution systems necessitate a fresh look at the path to common prosperity; the revolutionary spirit embedded in labor-based distribution is the essential driving force for achieving common prosperity today; the tension between the materialization of production and the humanization of consumption, exacerbated by the development of new-quality productive forces, which weakens the “labor” distribution criteria, calls for the establishment of “new-quality” distribution standards. The “disruptive” influence of new-quality productive forces necessitates a preliminary framework for future societal distribution methods: during the early liberation phase of new-quality productive forces, a combination of distribution according to “labor” and “production factors” should be implemented; in the advanced development phase, distribution according to “ownership” should be adopted; and in the highly advanced stage, distribution according to “needs” should be practiced.
