High-quality Urban Development Boosts Chinese Modernization

The Third Urban Governance Forum - the national academic seminar on "Chinese Modernization and High-quality Urban Development" was held at the Party School of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee on November 10. The forum was organized by the Economics Teaching and Research Department of the Party School of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee. The forum focuses on the topics of promoting coordinated development of the Yangtze River Delta through urban governance modernization, public management research & collaborative innovation of the Yangtze River Delta and digital transformation of urban grassroots governance.

Zeng Jun, vice president of the Party School of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, points out that high-quality urban development helps beautify urban living environment, enhance comprehensive carrying capacity of a city, improve the urban governance system, strengthen protection and inheritance of urban history and culture, and promote scientific and technological innovation, industrial upgrading and economic development. Therefore, high-quality urban development is of great importance for Chinese modernization. Professor Han Baojiang, former director of the Economics Teaching and Research Department of the Party School of the CPC Central Committee, believes that we should be committed to coordinating the effective improvement of quality with reasonable growth of quantity, making overall arrangements for supply-side reform and domestic demand expansion, and promoting innovation-driven development and institutional opening-up.
