The World Conference on China Studies · Shanghai Forum will be held at the Shanghai International Convention Center on November 24.
The forum, themed "Chinese Civilization and China’s Path – A Global Perspective", has four sub-forums with the separate topics of "Evolution: Understanding Chinese Civilization Through Ideas, Institutions and Artifacts", "Explorations: Chinese Modernization and China’s Path", "Mutual Learning between Civilizations: Modern Chinese Civilization from a Comparative Perspective", and "Progression of Scholarship: Inter-generational Transmission and Paradigm Shifts in China Studies”. More than 400 well-known experts and scholars from home and abroad will gather in Shanghai to discuss rich implications of Chinese culture and the characteristics of Chinese civilization, to understand ancient and modern China and have a grasp of the future of China at a deeper level, and let the world be aware that China is scholarly and open and is contributing to human civilization.
The founding of the China Studies Union and the winners of the 2023 China Studies Contribution Award will be announced at the conference. An exhibition of achievements in the development of China studies and a visit to "Shanghai as a sample of Chinese modernization" are planned as important events of the conference.
The World Conference on China Studies · Shanghai Forum is hosted by the State Council Information Office and Shanghai Municipal People's Government, and organized by Information Office of Shanghai Municipality and Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. It has the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Peking University, Tsinghua University and Fudan University.
