Themed “Two Combinations and New Cultural Mission”, the Seminar on In-depth Study and Implementation of Xi Jinping Thought on Culture was held on December 8 at Fudan University.
The event was organized by the Publicity Department of the CPC Shanghai Committee, the Party School of the CPC Shanghai Committee, and the Shanghai Research Center for Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era.
Experts who presented at the seminar included Wu Xiaoming, senior professor in Liberal Arts and professor of the School of Philosophy at Fudan University; Chen Xixi, professor of the School of Marxism of Shanghai Jiao Tong University; and Huang Lizhi, professor of the Party School of the CPC Shanghai Committee.
As Prof. Wu pointed out, refined traditional Chinese culture has been continuously given new life in the historic practice of contemporary China.
According to Prof. Chen, the formulation of the theoretical proposition of “Two Combinations” not only reflects a shift in context, but also highlights the elevation of the theoretical realm, reflecting the Party’s theoretical self-awareness of upholding fundamental principles and breaking new ground.
Prof. Huang claims that Marxism, when viewed as our guide, may act as a “filter” and point us in the correct path toward China’s modernization on the basis of taking in and benefit from all the excellent achievements created by human civilization.
