Deep Integration of Intelligent Machine Translation and Human Translation Efforts

Compiled by the project team at the Shanghai Research Institute, "2018-2022 China International Import Expo Language Services Report", a sub-report from the "China International Import Expo Development Research Report No.5" Blue Book, was recently unveiled.

This comprehensive report analyzes the language services at the China International Import Expo (CIIE) from three key perspectives: the participating exhibitors and their language service needs, the profile of major language service providers, and the state of intelligent language services, which encompasses both human and machine translation. It also delves into the limitations of intelligent machine translation and the challenges it encounters. The report highlights that while intelligent machine translation offers high efficiency, strong convenience, and broad language coverage, particularly in handling large volumes of written materials, it still needs to advance in understanding complex contexts and managing multicultural nuances. The future trajectory of language services at the CIIE is poised to achieve a deep integration of intelligent machine translation with human translation efforts. There is an anticipated increase in multilingual services, with online and remote language services emerging as a new trend. The report emphasizes the importance of leveraging new intelligent language service technologies to construct a public language service technical platform.
