On November 29, the 2024 Xinjiekou Y·Future Media Conference and the 10th-anniversary celebration of Beijing Normal University's School of Journalism and Communication took place in Beijing. The event drew over 300 attendees, including distinguished scholars, experts from research institutions, and media alumni from universities nationwide.

Wushour Silamu, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and a professor at Xinjiang University, highlighted the challenges that AI technology encounters in media convergence. These include combating false information, ensuring data security, embracing cognitive diversity, and adapting to the social media landscape. He emphasized the need for continuous refinement of algorithms and models, with data, computational power, and practical applications being the crux of successful integration.

Yu Guoming, a professor at Beijing Normal University's School of Journalism and Communication, discussed the disruptive innovations in the field of communication. He identified four key dimensions of change: the expansion of communication boundaries, the shift of the origin point, the transformation of core dynamics, and the evolution of grammatical rules. Yu suggested that the field should focus on establishing behavioral communication studies, examining the characteristics of games as emerging mainstream platforms, and conducting cognitive research to overcome cognitive barriers and pave the way for the future construction of communication disciplines.
