“Annual Report on Shanghai's Role in BRI Implementation (2024)” Published
On April 2nd, the “Annual Report on Shanghai's Role in BRI Implementation (2024)” was jointly released in Beijing by the Shanghai Academy and the Social Sciences Academic Press.
The report indicates that Shanghai, focusing on high-quality development and the strategic task of building a new development pattern, continues to advance the development of the "Five Centers" initiative, closely integrating these efforts with the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). To meet the demand for green industry transformation and upgrading, the report suggests that Shanghai improve the supporting infrastructure and design schemes for the upstream and downstream of the green industry chain. It also recommends continuously strengthening the cultivation, attraction, and retention of green and low-carbon talents, and leveraging the green supply chain to seek an international leading position. Looking ahead, Shanghai will rely on technological innovation to focus on the development of three leading industries—integrated circuits, biomedicine, and artificial intelligence (AI)—and vigorously cultivate six key industries: electronics, life health, automotive, high-end equipment, advanced materials, and fashion consumer goods. These efforts aim to drive a new upgrade of the BRI value chain.
